How are you reveling in this beautiful weather while we have it? Surprisingly,
it’s only 64 degrees as I write this. 64 degrees ya’ll. Did I mention it’s mid-May in
Arizona? And it’s already 10am?! This beautiful weather is why people move
I am sitting outside soaking it up as much as I can because I know it will soon
be gone for the summer. Summer in our Sonoran Desert gets hot. H-O-T hot.
Our hot summer and how amazing it is right now are the reasons for this article
and the next…For now, here a few good places that should be on your list before
it’s too hot to enjoy them.
Butterfly Wonderland—One of the most recent places we’ve visited and it was a full day’s fun. Thousands and thousands of butterflies of every size and color literally everywhere you look. It was breathtaking and so fun, especially when they would land on us!
Many who aren’t familiar with Arizona don’t realize how many beautiful butterflies call this place home. And here you can find them all in one spot! I believe they regulate the temperature a little bit but once true summer hits, this might not be
as high as on our list of places to visit.
A Day Out to the River —You’ll also see this one on my list of things to do to
beat the heat but I stand by it as a solid choice. The beautiful thing about nature
in the desert is the versatility. If you go while it’s still a moderate temp, the water
may be cooler but the beauty is still there.
Reasons to go in Spring:
- There’s almost always a beautiful breeze out in the open desert near
the river and the cacti are blooming.
- You may not want to wade as far as you would in summer but you
can still dip your toes in and search for river rocks.
- You’re also more likely to find a private spot if you go in Spring.
- You can get out of the city to relax and enjoy the peaceful scenery.
Catch a baseball game—Spring training is over but a day at the ball park is a totally different experience. Going to Chase Field now means you are more likely to go when the roof is open. As one of the only ballparks in the MLB with a retractable roof, it is a marveling site. On certain days, they also have fireworks at the end of the game.
Don’t forget how much our fur babies love a change of scenery. A day at the dog park can make for a happy, tired pooch and give you a chance to relax and replenish. For dogs with darker coats like Mr. Mister, dog park days in the summer are few and far between so now is the time.
Even if these things just aren’t your cup of tea, opt for something else.
Whatever you decide to do, just try to make it something outside. The weather
is just too nice not to. And in a couple months, you’ll thank me.
